Lionel Mess Took FIFA Best Male Player 2019

The Best FIFA Men's Player Award Winner Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona and Argentina poses with the trophy

Lionel Messi wasn't one of the best three players in the world in the last year according to the Best FIFA Awards last night but the Barcelona forward was certainly unbiased in his voting.

There won't be many people on the planet who argue that Lionel Messi is one of the best two footballers in the world. Even though he and Cristiano Ronaldo failed to win the award for the best male in world football there won't be many who won't still have them one and two overall.

That Messi didn't reach further than the quarter finals of the Champions League with Barcelona or further than the second round of the World Cup with Argentina is why he missed out on the top three of the award
The 31 year old still posted incredible numbers for goals scored last season and was again the integral part of the Barcelona side who won La Liga and Copa del Rey double, whilst his hat-trick was the only reason Argentina reached Russia in the first place.
